CEO and Founder

Baron is a widely-recognized expert on database internals, web performance, and large-scale application development. His best-selling technical books and open-source software are used by tens of thousands of engineers every day. Before founding VividCortex, Baron was an executive at Percona. He has a degree in Computer Science.

Jay Ennis

Vice President of Product Development

Jay is a seasoned veteran in creating, growing, and leading successful technology startups. Prior to VividCortex, he held executive leadership positions at Infoblox, Network Chemistry, and Visual Networks, which he cofounded. He has coauthored four patents related to measurement in the fields of telecommunications and computer networking, holds a Masters degree in Computer Science from The Johns Hopkins University, and is licensed as a Commercial Pilot.

Vice President of Marketing

Ryan is a senior digital marketing and strategy leader who has led marketing at a series of high-growth venture-funded technology startups, including Workfront, ProofHQ, BenefitMall, and Boundless Network. Ryan brings deep expertise in demand generation, marketing operations, and sales enablement.



Karen Bender

Director of Finance and Operations

Karen is an experienced leader in developing and directing finance and HR teams, with expertise that includes P&L management, budgeting and planning, due diligence, working capital management, and all HR duties. She built the finance and HR departments at the Rimm-Kaufman Group, where she worked for ten years, and oversaw acquisitions of AudetteMedia and Nine By Blue before the Group sold to Merkle, Inc.



Steven Close

Director of Information Security

Steve's expertise in information security ensures that VividCortex's organizational policy, risk management, security awareness, identity management, disaster recovery, and other areas of risk and security comply to the highest standards. Prior to taking over information security at VividCortex, Steve directed security departments at, Avalon Health Care, and W.J. Bradley Mortgage.

Kelsey Uebelhor

Director of Product Marketing

Kelsey is an expert in product marketing and sales enablement. Prior to VividCortex, she held leadership roles at fast-growing startups including ProofHQ, Salesforce, and ExactTarget, where she created high-ROI, scalable, sustainable marketing campaigns that enabled large sales teams and drove sustained growth and demand.

Jaffray is one of our earliest investors, leading our angel and Series Seed rounds, as well as participating heavily in our Series A. Jaffray himself is an undisputed technical genius, whose many accomplishments include leading the Netflix Challenge and founding QIM, one of the world's most successful hedge funds.

Battery Ventures

Battery Ventures is a global, technology-focused investment firm pursuing the most promising companies and ideas. Founded in 1983, they have offices in Boston, Silicon Valley and Israel. Battery Ventures invested in our Seed and Series A funding. Our partners at Battery are Alex Benik (AppDynamics, Interana, and others) and Neeraj Agrawal (six-time Midas Listed, noted for SaaS successes).

New Enterprise Associates

NEA is easily one of the world's most successful and prestigious venture capital firms, and our partner Harry Weller is a legend in SaaS and enterprise infrastructure software (MongoDB, ElasticSearch, Vertica, ScienceLogic, ThreatQuotient, etc).
